As founder and director of Shipway Consulting Ltd, I have enjoyed a successful career within leadership, organisational development, HR and Learning and Development for over 25 years.
A Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, I am a passionate advocate of organisational improvement and developing high performing teams, with a genuine enthusiasm for any values-led approach which places people at the heart of its vision and strategy.
I have a strong background working in strategic people leadership roles, in commercial and public sector environments, and bring extensive experience in effective strategic business development and people management as well as learning, coaching and behaviour profiling.
My purpose at Shipway Consulting Ltd is to support and enable organisation’s to be the best they can be. I provide guidance and support to help them develop their thinking, practice and capabilities through their governance, leadership and learning approaches, enabling them to bring to life their culture, be as effective as possible and realise their organisational vision.
My interests lay in system leadership, collective impact, place based working, organisational change & cultural development, and leading corporate values, strategy and transformation programmes – I thrive on helping organisations transform through developing its workforce and believe in the importance of understanding what makes organisations, and it’s people tick.
Through my work I have developed a strong profile with public sector and place-based organisations who work to improve public service approaches and affect real change in communities. Specific examples include the education sector where I sit as a Non-Executive Director of a national multi-academy Trust and work with national partners such as the New Schools Network and the sport and physical activity sector and Active Partnership network where I sit on the National Board of Active Partnerships as a Non-Executive Director chairing the National Development Group, and work closely with national funders such as Sport England, Local Trusts, Local Authorities and specific local Active Partnerships and partners supporting their approach.
As a strong programme director with high level communication and influencing skills I have successfully been contracted in a variety of key initiatives, projects, interim roles and support across a broad range of organisation types including SMEs, newly incorporated businesses, private sector companies, government funded bodies, local authority frameworks and charitable organisations.
I am an Associate Consultant with the CIPD, an Associate Consultant with WM Employers, an Enterprise Adviser with the Careers and Enterprise Company and an Associate Consultant with Quest NBS where I support the improvement agenda across the network of government funded Active Partnerships.
An experienced mentor and coach I am a qualified, accredited, advocate and practitioner of a range of psychometric behaviour profiling tools including Everything DiSC, Myer-Briggs, Belbin Team roles, MIRO and Strength Deployment Index (SDI).
When working on wide-scale system change projects, my support is complemented by a network of associates who share the same commitment, values and approach. Brought together from a range of sectors and backgrounds, these highly-skilled experts ensure a collaborative and partnership working approach can be brought to any place-based initiatives.
